Whaaa?

Two posts in one day???  I know, it’s a sign of the apocalypse.

I just wanted to flaunt my patchwork elvis!

WTF, Mate?

Seriously.  The forums on ravelry sucked me into their vortex and I have been unable to resist.  I look at the forums, and then I look at my neglected knitting that I have sitting RIGHT BESIDE ME ON THE COUCH.  I say to myself, “Oh, just a few more minutes.  I haven’t read these posts yet.  Oh!  I have a reply!”  And then BAM, hours have passed and it is time for bed.

I managed to finally spin up the merino/silk blend that I have had forever.  That fat strand in the front is just the tie.  Overall, I am very proud of my first spinning excursion.  I am going to have to get some more roving so that I will have something to ply with this and make an interesting neckwarmer or something.

Can you see that?????   It is my baby purple basil. Yuuummmmmmmm.

Look, ma! More beach pictures!

Seriously, though.  I will try not to bore you with ten beach shots.  Maybe only eight or nine.

These  were taken at Rexhame beach.  It is really a beautiful, clean beach.  There are plenty of rocks for skipping (my record stands at five skips)and the waves were a good three or four feet today.

On to knitting related things:

I have quite a few things going right now and I feel as though I’m spinning my tires, not really getting a lot accomplished.  My goal this coming week is to finish some of these lingering projects so that I can embark on a slew of new ones!!

It’s official, I suck at “blogging”.

But since I think this has been self-evident for a painfully extended period of time… On to some pics!

Mmmm… nasty newspaper hands from packing dishes.

Yesterday we went to the beach at Nantasket and Hull. It was ridiculously windy, but very beautiful.

I know this is a terrible picture, but it was the best I could get on this drive-by photoshoot. I thought this island with fifty houses crammed on it was hilarious. I can’t wait for a storm to blow through and put those assholes under water.

“It’s an invading alien space craft! It’s a sign of the apocalypse!! No, it’s just a huge, hideous windmill ten feet away from your house! AHHHH!!!!!”

Boring sleeve progress.

Knitted while watching tv, I have realized that the shaping had very little effect on the dimensions of the finished piece. Ah, we’ll see. RE knitting the entire thing is not really an option since I would like her to receive this before snow flies.

Mmmmmm…

Delightful french onion soup topped with a crouton of freshly baked sourdough and fontinella cheese. Mmm… chablis.

Slow and steady wins the race (?)

A commonly overused and trite saying which I am currently questioning the legitimacy thereof. Slow and steady only wins the race by default if the speedy, fluid contender somehow drops the ball in his haste.

Oh, well. My progress lately has been slow but steady, which I suppose is better than nonexistent.

These are the front panels to a sweater I am knitting my brother’s girlfriend (shhh! it’s a secret). I meant it as a going-away-to-college present for her, but it is going to be a few months late. They still need to be blocked and are sadly wrinkled from sitting in a bag awaiting the completion of their counterparts. The back panel is completed but in such a sad state of wrinkles, I will keep him hidden.

The sleeves have been started and are moving along nicely.
